Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis

Dear Health Care Provider,

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a disease that is chronic, relapsing, and for which there is no known cure. The hallmark symptoms of the disease are characterized by intense itching, redness and scaling. It can be coupled with asthma and allergic rhinitis. It is estimated that upwards of 20% of children are affected and the incidence is on the rise.

As you well know, atopic dermatitis can wreak havoc on patients, their caretakers and their health care providers. Unfortunately, the scientific community is still searching for a cure. Until one is available, it is critical that we monitor the safety and efficacy of current therapeutic options.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we are conducting a long term observational study of pediatric patients with atopic dermatitis. There is no cost to the patient. The patients will receive a full body skin exam and will be required to have one follow up office visit. Enrollment for the study is immediate.

If you have any pediatric patients with mild, moderate or severe eczema and you would like to have them considered for this important long term study, please contact Midwest Dermatology at (913) 317-5066. If more convenient we may be reached via email at info@midwestdermatology.com. We appreciate your assistance with this important research project.

Sincerely,

Carol Foulds, MD
